I am sure that most of us have been through bad relationships that have hurt us badly and we have tried to move on but it is not always easy. Avery is a typical woman who has a good looking friend who loves to party, she goes with Colby to a party and that is where she meets Spencer. He can't be interested as she is plain & not that fun to be with but he makes her feel so much better about herself.
Spencer is seriously messed up and I don't like him as he builds her up and then he destroys her. There relationship is a big mess as Avery seems to feel more than he does and he messes with her confidence so I hope that he decides to let her go for good.
Spencer has too many ghosts and he can't be honest with Avery so he breaks up with her when things get bad and the cycle starts all over again.
I could feel Avery's pain when she knew that he was gone again but I wanted to slap her she needs to get a backbone and move on. It was a good read that had me really worried by the end as I fear that he has pushed her too far. What young love can do to you. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. I will be reading book two in this series as soon as I can.
I started this book at 9pm, thinking I would read until I was tired. NOPE! I didn't stop until after 3am when I finished it! I couldn't put it down and the only effects I felt the next day was for the book. It wasn't my exhaustion that ran through my head, it was Spencer and Avery.

Don't look at the fact that she's a new author...because she's not. It's clear she's been writing for a very long time. It shows in her style and her words. This is a must read. I recommend it to everyone!

This is not what I was thinking it was going to be. I thought this was going to be your run if the mill romance. You know, where boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, they have problems, they work through them. Drama erupts, blah, blah, blah. That is NOT what we are given with this book.

When Flatman titled it Consumed, she could not have titled it better. The depth to which the live between the hero and heroine, takes over, is crazy. I'm not sure I've ever read a book that has characters as emotionally involved as these two.

Sometimes, too much detail with regards to thoughts, kills a book for me. This one had tons of detail on what the heroine was thinking and all it did was pull me in more. I kept thinking to myself, her love for Spencer, really does consume her. She can't escape it. It was festering in her mind and taking over her soul! My God, the girl needed an exorcism!

I do have to say that there were some points were the dialogue felt forced for me. It didn't feel genuine throughout the story.

I also kept thinking, man, Avery is kind of child-like. It's like she isn't in tune with the adult world; doesn't realize that bad things happen or just doesn't want think they happen.

At the end of the day though, I enjoyed thia book. I got caught up in it and felt emotionally disturbed by the relationship these two characters shared, as well as the relationship between Avery and her best friend.

At this point, I'm ready to read the next book. Once it comes out, you can bet that I will be one of the first to one-click it!

5 consuming stars!! Wow this book swallowed me up and didn’t spit me out until the end!! Such a powerful, powerful book!!!

This book was definitely consuming on every level. It was emotional, gut wrenching and took you on a ride of emotions!! You fall in love with Avery and Spencer and you also become consumed by their love!!!

What an appropriate name for this book. This was a 5* read for me. It gives a view on what it is like for someone who is absolutely consumed with being with someone.
Avery is obsessed with Spencer and Spencer feels the same about her. They have a need to be with each other. Avery is not a strong person when it comes to him. Spencer has the tendency on leaving when the going gets good and pops back into her life just when she learns to cope without him. Colby is Avery's best friend, I was not impressed with her character at all, I guess she is the character that everyone loves to hate, well I did come to hate her by the end of the book.
This was basically a book in Avery's POV until the last chapter.
I am anxiously waiting for the release of the next book.
Consumed is the first book in a 5 book series by new author NJ Flatman.
This is were we get to meet Avery and Spencer, to two main character's in the series.
Avery is one of my favourite character's. Colby her best friend she annoyed me - I wanted to b*tch slap her so many times it was funny.
I even had moments of where I wanted to slap Spencer but I have chosen to wait until NJ releases book two in the series to make up my mind on him.

I love how it goes from present to memories, were we get to see how Spencer has affected Avery.
I truly felt the moment's she was living.

NJ has the type of writing style I adore, her character's are honest about their emotions and you can feel that in the way it is written.
I couldn't put the book down and I will be begging for book 2 to be released as soon as possible.

For a first novel - this book is a hit!
